Executive Director of Advancement

PGCMLS is seeking an experienced, visionary Executive Director of Advancement to lead all fundraising, donor relations, and communications efforts in support of library services that enrich the lives of Prince George’s County residents. This position also serves as the Executive Director of the PGCMLS Foundation and is a key member of the Library’s Executive Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and direction for all advancement activities. Serve as ambassador and liaison among the Library, Foundation, and community partners.
  • Develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy to grow a diverse and sustainable funding base. Oversee donor cultivation, gift processing, and stewardship programs.
  • Lead and mentor the Advancement, Foundation, and Marketing teams. Collaborate across departments to align fundraising, communications, and community engagement efforts.
  • Manage advancement and Foundation budgets. Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations, ethical standards, and donor intent.
  • Build relationships with library patrons, donors, government agencies, and local organizations to strengthen community support for the Library’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field required. Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Philanthropy, or a related area preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in fundraising and development leadership.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification and membership in professional fundraising associations.
  • Proven track record in major gifts, grants, and donor cultivation.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and project management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance, public relations, and marketing.
  • Proficiency with fundraising databases and Microsoft/Google Suites.
