Chief Development Officer (CDO)

This senior executive is responsible for leading and growing the outr philanthropic program to support annual operating needs, programmatic initiatives, and capital projects. The CDO sets overall fundraising strategy, personally cultivates and manages relationships with the organization's largest donors and prospects, leads planning for future capital campaigns, and represents the Partnership externally alongside the CEO and others. Reports to the CEO and serves on the Senior Leadership Team.

Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture

The Partnership is the nonprofit that manages the programs and facilities at Glen Echo Park (Glen Echo, MD). Our mission is to present vibrant artistic, cultural and educational offerings at the Park and promote it as a unique destination for our region's diverse population. We strive to inspire creativity and offer shared artistic experiences in a welcoming historic and natural setting within a National Park. We operate the Park in partnership with Montgomery County, the National Park Service and our many resident and non-resident program partners. The Partnership is led by a 20-member Board of Directors who participate in fundraising and represent the organization throughout the community. The organization’s annual operating budget is $3M with $1M in contributed revenue - $300k from government sources and $700k from individuals/foundations/corporate donors. Capital budgets vary year to year.

What you’ll do:
  • Shape Development Strategy: Develop a multi-year fundraising plan to grow individual, corporate, government, and foundation support.
  • Cultivate Donors and Major Gifts: Personally manage a portfolio of top donors and expand our annual fund programs.
  • Lead the Gala: Drive the vision and donor engagement for our landmark $300,000 annual gala.
  • Future Capital Campaigns: Prepare future campaigns, including exciting upcoming improvements to our historic Spanish Ballroom.
The Details:
  • Location: Glen Echo, MD (4 days in office / 1 day remote )
  • Hours: Regular office hours are 9:30 am - 6:00 pm, but vary with events and organizational needs. Must attend weekend and evening Park events (1-2/mo) and Board of Directors and board committee evening meetings. (Comp/flex time provided.)
  • Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
  • Requirements: Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and 8+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience; knowledge of regional philanthropy, major donors; passion for arts, culture, parks, or historic sites strongly preferred.
